Lived in Norwood for 10 years, used to eat here literally once a week. Came back while in the neighborhood for breakfast...food was ok, young wait staff is not at all what it used to be, portions were very small compared to the past. Probably won't come back.
Good food but they need more help
I drove all the way to Norwood today for breakfast only to learn the Bluebird Restaurant permanently closed. Sadly, I found on Facebook that the owner, Mama Bluebird, had passed away and the restaurant has since been sold.
Excellent Goetta
Home fries were undercooked, everything else was over cooked and under seasoned. Didn’t receive refills on any beverages even when coffee was sitting at edge of table the entire time. Do not recommend.
Very busy Saturday morning. Service was slow, but super-friendly. Food is always excellent.
There food great my brother and I have are Sunday breakfast there
Excellent homestyle/diner food, all day breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Very nice home style cooking, good service, clean, reasonably priced. This was my second or third time there. I'd eat there again if I was in the area.
Good, old fashioned diner. Food is always tasty, but don't order a gotta , egg and tomato sandwich with a coffee to go cause it's $7.10. I about fell over when I got that bill. But other than being too high it's ok. Plenty of parkingout back in a public lot and on street.
I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. Food was good and service was ok after a poor start. In their defense they were quite busy late morning on a Saturday Looks like we came in at the tail end of their rush, but after seating we were not acknowledged or greeted for a very long time (10-15 mins). After finally flagging down a server we received rushed and so-so service. As things cleared out it improved. Even after the rush the place was clean, if cluttered (menus piled randomly, bus tubs, etc) and the booths are cute and comfortable. Food 3.5-4; Service 3 at best, ambiance 4.
The food here is so good. The service is fast and very friendly. I will always recommend.
It's a throwback to a 1950s diner. Good food and friendly service. You can get breakfast any time.
Great place for breakfast... Haven't had other meals. Down home place, very friendly staff. They still have the mini jukebox hanging at each booth to play your favorite Skeeter Davis song ;)
This place is local to my work. It's a classic diner and they are okay. A couple of my coworkers really like this place but personally I don't enjoy it as much as they do. I've gone here 6 times and 3 of the times there were issues with my order, but they always do make right by it.One time they forgot to cook my hamburger so they upgrades me to the larger free. Another time after all the food was out they let me know the fish was too frozen too cook so I went with the quickest thing they cook get - biscuits and gravy. The third time I don't recall, but the last two times have been good.I will go back but not because it will be my preference but because my coworker will want to. I'd much rather try out other foods in the area.
Family owned and operated. Love the juke boxes at every table. Food was great!
One of the last breakfast all day, old school diners left in Cincinnati. Good and inexpensive, love this place.
More of a breakfast and lunch place than dinner so when they were out of meatloaf the veggie omelette sounded good. As good as it sounded it tasted even better. Legit. Menu is standard fare. Those in the know use the rear entry because of parking.
Solid greasy spoon diner. Good quality, good value, flat-topped breakfasts. Be sure to bring change for the table-top jukeboxes.
Got there early so it wasn't busy and service was not an issue. The food however, could be better and the place could be cleaner. No major gaps, just too greasy and looks like the result of very little effort. Not sure if it's always been like this, based on older reviews and comments, this used to be a much nicer place. The decor is old and charming in its unique way.
Great biscuits and gravy!!! Very affordable and filling.
Best breakfast I have had in a long time!! Made from scratch and delicious!!
Would certainly recommend trying this spot. Excellent ambience, yummy dishes, fantastic customer service. Kudos.
Visiting from out of town and saw this little place on google maps. Went in and sat myself as the sign suggested. Problem is if you seat yourself they never even look for you so I waited over 10 minutes before I flagged someone down. Then ordered and waited another 40 minutes before I just got up and walked out!
Great down home, mom and pops type of restaurant! Great food, great prices and great portions. Family owned for years and extremely friendly staff. Great, fast service
We came to this spot for lunch. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very nice. we were warmly welcomed by the staff members and we had a great feeling. The meal was fresh and delicious. We loved this place very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. we highly recommend this place.
Pretty good food and friendly staff
They offer a vast variety of delicious food. I liked eating here. Employees are always very friendly, rates are convenient and the place is always well organised.
Really has gone down. Sad, l used to love this place. Service was slow, forgetful, food left a lot to be desired. Miss the Reba days when you were greeted like family and service was outstanding.
Best food, very kind staff, consistently excellent mood. They charge convenient pricing and the food quality is fantastic. Kudos.
Awesome food n waitress s
A perfect Home town restaurant. Delicious food, great laidback no rush service. You can actually take a breather and enjoy the time that you're there.
Awesome mom n pop style restaurant.
They recently sold the place should be open again soon. Check before you go. Good food in an old school diner. Reasonable prices
Horrible experience. This was my first time coming to Blue Bird Restaurant and I will not be returning. I ordered the white meat fried chicken and it was burnt, the mashed potatoes and gravy were cold and the green beans were flavorless. I also had a tossed salad, it came with tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese. The cheese was HARD and tomatoes were old. My client ordered coleslaw with her chicken and it was sour and spoiled. Our sever was like 90 and couldn’t hear anything we were saying while trying to order and we had to repeatedly ask for refills. He also sat down at a booth behind us on a personal phone call while we had been waiting for a while for our check that we also had to ask for. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant and I don’t typically leave reviews but this was so bad.
Nice home cooked meals and very pleasant family atmosphere. Love it and visit often.
Bluebird feels like a gem of a family owned, biscuit and gravy, comfort food, breakfast lunch & dinner diner. This is America from a play by William Inge or something like it nearly unchanged in decades. Bluebird has has opened early and closed early for years, but they are experimenting with late night on weekends. It is a treasure.
Bluebird is a really really good breakfast spot. The food is delicious, the staff is really nice, and the pricing is on point aka it’s not super hipstery and overpriced. The Bs&Gs are on point too!
This place is great. It's very, very dated, but that's what I loved about it. The service was so nice and attentive. So many choices on the menu, you will definitely find something to eat.
Food was GREAT and very good portions. Very filing and inexpensive.
The food was okay ( not out of this world. The place is aged and a Friday at lunchtime and there were maybe 3 tables of customers / 8 customers. I hope it makes it because I prefer little local places , but they need to brighten up , clean up & maybe advertise . New menus / clean menus & maybe have lunch specials.
Great little dinner
I laughed when I saw the comment about bad service because I never received it here, until this past Sunday. The waitress greeted us as soon as we got there, got our coffee and took our order. That would be the last time we saw her at our table until my wife stopped her to get more coffee, 25 minutes later. People that arrived after us started getting their food it was time to leave 45 minutes after we walk through the door. The food that was being served looked great.
Portion are large service is good place is clean, and prices are reasonable.
This place has terrible service. I’m an African American and so are my two little girls. I came in, was told to seat myself. Sure no problem. Had to find my own menus. Then as I’m ready to order I look up and see three older white people come in, be seated, and immediately waited on by the woman that just told me to seat myself.... call it what you want but I’ll never come back and I’m going to recommend others Of color to not come here neither
As usual, friendly staff & good food. Had BLT & Pepsi. Loved listening to jukebox.
Staff is super friendly. Amazing place for typical dinner food.
This is certainly one of the finest place in the region. Always when I come to this place I am remarkably happy. They maintain their high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they offer. You always win with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.
Great hidden gem. The booths all have quarter jukeboxes that actually work! Food was very decent and the staff was lovely. Big place so the service was fast, no long wait.
Fast, tasty and cheap
